Religious belief, where others go on vacation...

Island - Benedictine Life - World Heritage Site - a unique combination!
Still nowadays, one can feel the 1200 years of religious catholic tradition in:

  • the three romanesque churches with their prolific cultural treasures
  • the three special feasts
  • the numberous religious offers for the young and the old
  • the comprehensive church music
  • the public liturgies of the hour - offered by the Cella St. Benedikt

The three romanesque churches are something special:
Cathedral St. Mary and Marcus is the center with it's valuable treasure and the precious Holy Blood Relic. It's the location where special feasts take place.

St. George - with it's 1000 years old mural art that shows scenes from the gospel - is not only of value from a historical or cultural perspective, but also a place of vivid faith. As a protective measure the church is closed for the summer period except for guided tours and services.

The western end of the jewel in lake constance is the church St. Peter and Paul with the Egino chapel in that the two monks of the Cella St. Benedikt hold their liturgies of the hours three times a day open to the public.

Time and time again we commemorate the inspiring examples of faith, that shaped the religious landmark that Reichenau has become in special exhibits, addresses and special religious services.
